Children Welcome
The bushveld is an extraordinary experience for younger guests, the perfect blend of learning and fun, offering an opportunity to connect with nature and take part in adventures where muddy knees, dusty shoes and a headful of questions could mark the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the wilderness.
Mother Nature's Classroom
Royal Malewane started as the Biden family’s holiday home in the bush – it’s always been a wonderful place for children and adults to explore, share and make memories together. Having seen how much enjoyment their own children got from being on safari, Liz and Phil wanted to make the magic of Royal Malewane available to more families.
The bushveld is a wonderful blend of playground and classroom, and our Guides enjoy introducing children and teenagers to the wonders of nature. With a full programme of activities for children of all ages, and optional extra child-minding services, there are also opportunities for parents to enjoy some alone time in complete peace of mind.
Royal Malewane is a place where every moment is quality time, and families are always welcome.
Guides Who Are Great With Children
Our highly-qualified Guides are great storytellers, passionate about creating exciting, stimulating family safari experiences both in the bushveld and back at the lodge.
They love having the chance to engage children’s imaginations by sharing their expert knowledge of tracks and signs, and explaining animal behaviour in ways that encourage them to dig deeper and ask more questions about life in the bush.
At Royal Malewane, we believe that nurturing a love of the wild in younger generations is an investment in the future of conservation.
Royal Rangers
Our Royal Rangers programme reveals the wonders of the bushveld to younger guests, igniting a curiosity about wildlife and the ecosystems that sustain it. Each activity is led by our Guides who thrive on the energy and enthusiasm of children, turning education into an unforgettable adventure.
Each child is provided with a fully equipped bush backpack containing everything needed on safari, including a record book to log birds and animals. Meanwhile, slightly older children can take part in our Junior Rangers course and brush up on their tracking skills.
