Langutelani Crèche
Royal Malewane
Making education sustainable
When Brenda started the Langutelani Crèche in March 2014, there were only three children enrolled. Langutelani originally had just small classroom, so most of the lessons took place in the shade of a tree. Since then, the day care centre has grown to over 20 children ranging in age from 6 months to 5 years old, with the crèche providing basic meals and care.
Royal Malewane has been involved with raising funds and adding infrastructure to help uplift Langutelani since 2018. With the support of our guests and donors, The Royal Portfolio Foundation has added two large classrooms, boreholes and eco-friendly toilets, and a jungle gym for the children to play on.
Latest update
Ongoing Foundation support includes paying a teacher’s stipend and the monthly prepaid electricity and cooking gas bills. In addition, we are helping to inspire the teachers and caregivers to investigate sustainable living by providing seedlings and extra space for the vegetable garden.
We’re also helping one of the teachers to complete her qualifications and improve her earning potential.
