Leliebloem House
The Silo Hotel
Growing From Strength To Strength
Established in 1868, This non-profit child and youth care centre provides a home away from home for 60 children aged four to 18 who have been removed from troubled families by child protection agencies for specialist care and intervention programmes. Despite severe funding constraints, they continue delivering invaluable services including family reunification programmes.
The Royal Portfolio Foundation conducts fortnightly visits, bringing educational materials such as colouring pencils, balls, beads, and musical instruments to encourage creativity and play. The Foundation also funds the ongoing maintenance and upgrading of infrastructure, with assistance from The Silo Hotel’s maintenance team. In addition, the Foundation supports various projects, staff development, and the provision of essential supplies, and provides essential funding for Leliebloem to continue to care for their staff and children.
In addition, The Royal Portfolio Foundation funds two young adults through the ProSeed Programme run by Mamelani, a community development organisation that assists those transitioning from care at 18, ensuring they have the necessary support to succeed independently.
