Sunshine and Surf
At The Silo Hotel
Explore the bays from the granite boulders and white sand of Llandudno, to the big breakers of Long Beach, and the eclectic slow-paced family beach of St. James. On both sides of the Peninsula are fresh, blue waters and scenic beaches backed by the Cape Fold mountain range.
Sand castles and summer fun
The diverse Cape coastline makes some beaches better for buckets and spades where the sand is soft and there’s plenty of space to run around. About 30 minutes from The Silo Hotel is the southern stretch of coastline including Muizenberg, Kalk By, Fishhoek, and Simon’s Town.
Tidal pools along this coast are popular among locals who often hike the fynbos trails in the morning and finish with a plunge in the Atlantic pools. Families flock to the gentle rolling waves of Muizenberg, and shop along the bohemian stores and small-scale local cafés.
Soak it up in surfer’s paradise
Cape Town is an exciting surfing destination, with sections of both notoriously technical waves for experienced board riders, and more accessible breakers for beginners. Just 15 minutes from the hotel is Llandudno Beach, where surfers will love the hollow breaks and turquoise water, and sun seekers will love the very picturesque view.
Keen surfers might already know about Dungeons and Glen Beach which produce sought after waves, but are not for beginners. The likes of Long Beach and Big Bay, in the far south and far north respectively, bring the magic of the ocean to surfers of all stages.
