Escape to the Cape
Take a day trip to experience the Cape Peninsula’s rugged natural beauty, laid-back seaside towns, and phenomenal natural attractions. Or spend your time exploring the buzz and thrill of the Mother City…
Adventure along the Cape Peninsula
Journey along the mountainous Cape Peninsula and enjoy outstanding views where sea meets sky. At the most southerly end of the peninsula, you’ll find Cape Point Nature Reserve – with its dramatic scenery of both mountains and ocean. A nature-lover’s paradise, the reserve forms part of the Table Mountain National Park’s Cape Floral Kingdom and is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site.
Meander through fascinating Simon’s Town, South Africa’s largest naval base, or savour fresh fish off the boat in Kalk Bay. The iconic beaches of Muizenberg are worth a stop for that perfect shot, or you might want to try horse-riding along Noordhoek’s pale white sands. The colony of penguins at Boulders Beach are on every bucket list, a marine protected area with beautiful rock pools. Heading towards the Atlantic Seaboard, Chapman’s Peak Drive, between Hout Bay and Noordhoek, is known as one of the most scenic drives in the world. It’s one of the reasons Cape Town regularly appears on lists of “the most beautiful cities in the world.”
Explore the Mother City and Surrounds
Experience the city of Cape Town, just over an hour from Franschhoek – a rich mix of city life, culture and tradition. Visit the Company Gardens, the Castle of Good Hope and the District Six Museum. Go on an art tour of our sister property, The Silo at the V&A Waterfront, complete with a visit to the Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary African Art), the largest of its kind in southern Africa.
There are so many wonderful neighbourhoods to explore – including the vibrant Bo-Kaap neighbourhood, where you can taste authentic Cape Malay dishes and enjoy a walk around the colourful streets. The leafy suburb of Constantia is home to a number of wine estates and award-winning restaurants and Camps Bay is a popular strip for dining, cocktails and people-watching.
Adventure-lovers will enjoy the various hikes and trails around Table Mountain, and for those who prefer to take the easy route to the top, the Cape Town cableway is one of the city’s most popular attractions.
